I have been making a lot of reds so I thought it was time for a white. Since I
like southern hemisphere wines I pretty much knew which wine I wanted to make.
This wine will be a little unique in that there will be an oak hint. I have not
seen many whites that have oak chips, so I am waiting to see how this turns out.
This kit i a Gold medal award winning kit from Winexpert so I know it is going
to be good.
The OG is 1.092 so there will be a decent kick to the final product. The pitching temp was 72. This batch is the worst in so far as my slacking off and almost forgetting about it during bulk aging. Usually I get a batch bottled after 3ish months, depending on the variety. Not sure why I left this one go for so long, but it was 7 months before I bottled. Its not a bad thing. People bulk age for a lot longer than that. I just have not had the patience. Any way, this batch turned out very well. It is very crisp, which surprised me because when you think of a Chardonnay you think melon or buttery flavours. I tasted the last bit left over from bottling. I was very pleased. Now I will have to determine if it was by design or accident that the batch turned out like this. |
