Apfelwein

Apfelwein is a German fermented apple juice. It is kind of like a cross between hard cider and apple wine. It is very easy to make: apple juice + sugar + yeast = boom

  

It ferments dry, my FG was 0.997. It can be bottled like wine or bottle carbonated like beer. I like bubbles so I carb'd mine. It didn't have very much flavour since it went dry. Some people back sweeten the final product with concentrate. I might try that if I make it again. It does pack a punch, probably 10 - 12% ABV. I didn't check the OG. There wasn't very much carbonation when I checked, but I didn't leave it age very long. There was also a yeasty taste to it. It is supposed to age in the bottle several months. I will try it again in a few more months.
